Probably circa late 19th century, this striking example of Swedish folk art is constructed from a thin piece of steam bent birch and delicately laced strips of tree root. Fantastic evolved dark golden colour and deep patination. Highly decorated with typical geometric carving. Some very minor loss to the lid rim commensurate with age, but in our view, this does not detract from the considerable charm of the piece. Excellent overall condition.
