Believed circa 1860-1880, a delightful watercolour of Ascension Day. Lovely, muted pastel colours.  Superb condition. Text reads: “Ascension Day – Chaplain, boys & parishioner’s Bear St, Georges Chapel.” Initialled ‘GT’: George Townsend (1813-1894) was an Exeter artist, renowned for paintings & engravings of local civic events & of marine subjects throughout SW England. Period Ebonised Frame.
