This unique parchment (pig skin) container dates from circa late c18/ early c.19 & originates from the West Riding (Yorks). Of sturdy construction (note the metal rim) yet light, it would have been used (mostly by female workers) to carry looms & cotton with the indented side recession enabling it to fit snugly into the worker’s waist.  A wonderful container for storing fire kindling?!

Dimensions (W, H & D): 43x25x28 (widest) cm

Ref: FA26
