Description
A beautiful early Victorian Box with the typical alternate vertical ‘staves’ or banding in stunning original condition.
Salt was an expensive commodity & would have to have been kept dry & safe from vermin. Consequently, these
boxes were often hung by the fireplace, convenient for cooking. Wonderful colour, patination. Some very minor
nibbles commensurate with its considerable age.
