A collection of nine plumbers turnpins circa Victorian or early 20th century of various shapes and sizes. Made of turned wood (invariably boxwood or lignum vitae) these tools were used by plumbers to shape supple lead pipes into different internal diameters. With their attractive aged patina and rustic appearance, associated with their heavy usage, they have really tactile and decorative appeal. As shown in the images some pieces have nicks and small splits – in our view this is part of their authenticity and charm.
